An Open Letter to ‘Upcoming’ and budding Christian Creatives

In the past week, I’ve had conversations with Christians who want to be more vocal about their faith, I realize there are many people who want to do this but for some reason they are holding back. This letter contains everything I would say to anyone who comes to me personally. I hope this encourages you to take that first step.

Dear Christian Creative,

Firstly, you don’t need to match up with anyone.

Remember that all you do is to glorify God, so you’re not sharing your faith to compete with another christian creative. It is not a competition. In fact, the more of us sharing our faith, the better.

Also remember that your voice is distinct, so you don’t have to sound or be like any other christian creative. Your experiences are different from your favorite christian bloggers, and the way God will lead you to share your faith may be different from the way he will lead another creative. So, don’t be afraid to use your distinct voice, remember that the most important thing here is your obedience. Fear may show its ugly head, but you’re going to do it regardless . In the famous words of NIKE : Just Do It!

I and @theblackwriter serving looks ☺️

I believe the next point i’m going to make is most likely the most important part of this letter:

Never neglect your personal relationship with Abba. Your personal fellowship has to be consistent. Now that you’re openly sharing the gospel, the devil isn’t happy about it, since he does not have the capacity to stop you, so he will most likely try to distract you. To serve the people who follow you, you cannot afford not to sit at the feet of Jesus daily, so don’t get distracted by showing up on your feed that you forget to show up in his presence. After a while, your followers may begin to look up to you, you have a responsibility to pray for them and be there for the people who follow you and trust you voice. There will be days God will ask you to share certain things you’re not comfortable sharing, don’t hold back or be ashamed. Be led by the Spirit of God in all you do.

Influence or fame may come from doing this too, it’s important not to let get it get to your head, remember, its really not about you, its about Jesus. The truth is, the anointing on your life attracts, so people may would begin to shoot friendship shots, be prayerful and selective about those you let into your personal space.

It is important to know the reason why you do what you do, because there will be days when it feels like you’re talking to the wind. You may even question yourself and if you’re doing the right thing. Some of your posts may not get as much reach, likes or retweets as you would like but don’t let it be about the numbers. The numbers are a ‘nice to have’ however when it doesn’t happen, don’t let it discourage you.

Sometimes the feedback you receive may be from just one person, you don’t know the impact it may have made in their life. Heck, sometimes no one even reads what you write but this is where your obedience will be tested. Be thankful for those days and and keep it moving.

The truth is, you don’t have to do this alone. Find your tribe or community, people of like-mind and values and do life with them. No man is an island, if you’re clueless about this, check out my post on community and support. I hope it helps!

Another thing, just because you’re a christian creative, it does not mean you wouldn’t give your best. Let excellence rule in everything you do, from content creation to the pictures, even the way you plan your IG feed. Do it with excellence. It’s important to be the best at what you; take online courses, improve your craft, be the best.

Lastly, people may put you on a pedestal, but its not your duty to live up to their perception of you. You’re not perfect but you’re striving towards perfection. Some days, your mind may be attacked with guilt or the sins of your past. Always remember who you are in Christ. You are saved, forgiven, justified and sanctified.

So when the devil shows up with negative thoughts, you better get ready to shut him up. You will still make mistakes but don’t allow it stop you from preaching Jesus.

Oh, I forgot to mention, there are also certain perks of being a christian creative, you’ll find out yourself soon 😉

Don’t forget that I love you very much and I’m rooting for you, I know you’ll do amazing.

Fisayo ❤️

Thank you so much. Been blogging for a while now and TBH, at times I feel like I’m just talking to myself especially when the numbers are not shifting. Indeed it’s not about the quantity at times, but how much you bring someone closer to God or help them with something. I’m so grateful I came across this article 🤗
