5 Ways To Be Consistent In Your Walk With God

Hey guys! Happy New month ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š. October is already looking great! I’m super excited about this month, so much work to do but I’m not going to let it weigh me down. So today I’m going to be sharing practical guides on how you can be consistent in your fellowship life. Life can get so busy and sometimes you may need that extra push to spend time with God. I really do hope y’all find them helpful.

1. Use a Devotional

This proves to be very helpful especially when you’re confused on what part of the Bible to study. Although a devotional is not supposed to replace the bible, it’s supposed to guide you. A devotional gives you some sense of responsibility and it keeps you on your toes. I’m still a bit upset I discovered the You-version app in May. That app is everything! Trust me on this one guys. There are thousands of amazing devotionals, the bible in different translations and a whole lot of fun stuff.

2. Join a group you can be accountable to

So I’m currently on two whatsapp groups that keep me on my toes as regards spending time with God. one is called Driven by Eternity and the other is called Lighters. Driven by Eternity was created by Oreoluwa, a lifestyle blogger and Lighters was created by a friend and I. These two groups have immensely helped me stay active in studying the word. Basically we choose devotionals, study them together and discuss them. We also have days we pray together, and other fun things.

Being in a group like this is very helpful if you want to be consistent in the word. Driven By Eternity has reached its limit. Although lighters was initially for close friends, we made it is open to everyone serious about growing spiritually. So if you’re interested in joining Lighters, indicate on the comment section ๐Ÿ˜. If this sounds stressful for you, ask a friend to keep you accountable, it will make a difference.

3. Keep a Journal

I have always been a diary person, days I miss entries, I would literally feel like something was missing. At the beginning of this year, Heather Lindsey urged us on social media to do a journal challenge to get us to spend time with God everyday. This is about writing to God. Tell him everything and anything, study His word and see what he says about you or your situation. I started doing this and it’s been amazing.

Picking up my journal to write just means fellowship time. Although I wasn’t consistent for a while, I resumed again and it’s been wonderful. I would start by writing “Dear sweet Holy Spirit ๐Ÿ˜. ” I used to start with “Dear Daddy” but based on a personal revelation, I switched. As long as you’re talking to the Father, the Son or the Holy spirit then it’s fine. Try journalling, it will help with consistency.

4. Listen to Christian Music

There are days when I wake up feeling not so up to it. The last thing I want to do is pray or worship. I just want to go on instagram and like posts and reply my whatsapp messages. whenever I feel this way, I know this is the more reason I need to spend time with God. I don’t really know how to sing so I’d rather listen to a song and sing along. And I’m shaking my head at myself, just a few minutes ago, I didn’t want to even pray and now I find myself in tears, worshipping and praying lol. This works for me everytime! This just teaches me that regardless of how you feel, just do it. If spending time with God is done based on how you feel, unfortunately you may not be doing it often.

5. Go to church regularly

Church shouldn’t be once every month, it shouldn’t be once every year, 31st December ๐Ÿ˜‚. Guys! there’s something beautiful about fellowshipping with other believers. You’re encouraged, you listen to sermons that make you go back to study, you want more. If God didn’t want us go to church, everyone should be a pastor. Everyone should be able to rightly divide the word of truth on their own, by themselves. I’m not saying its all about going church, it really isn’t but church is a place where your personal walk with God is encouraged. I’m forever grateful to the church I belong to, my pastor is always on our case (he won’t let you rest). Continually pushing us to be better spiritually. If you’ve not been attending church, let me encourage you to start doing so, if you really want to be consistent and grow up spiritually, you gotta go to church.

Consistency in spending time with God is key to growing up spiritually. I really do hope one of these mentioned above works for you. If you made it to the end of this post, congratulations ๐Ÿ˜‚. Don’t forget to like, comment, share and follow my blog. plus, I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Oh myyy. This post is the truuuuuuth!
I agree with absolutely everything on that list. The use of devotionals helps a whole lot. I’ve never thought of the journalling thingy but I’m gonna start it right away. And the part of listening to Christian music too. I think it helps not just in studying the Word but in praying often as well.

This post blessed me. I’m still on the journey through your blog though. Lol

And if there’s still room in the Lighters WhatsApp group, I’d love to join.

    Cheers!
