This post was very much inspired by this tweet I saw

Someone else even said Baba God pick Nigeria’s call lol. Don’t you just love Nigerians 😂

Everything seems to be wrong with Nigeria right now. we all know what the dollar to naira exchange rate is at the moment, let’s not even start with pounds *inserts tears*. Things are expensive, no power supply, no job, corruption, lassa fever, boko haram, heat etc. Infact There’s so much to complain about, terrible news everywhere.

But in the midst of this there’s still sooo much to be thankful for at the same time. Some countries have it worse you know. You may say what’s there to be thankful for about Nigeria.? The list is endless. Let me start by stating the fact that you’re Nigerian. Well I’m happy I’m a Nigerian (most times). Are you?(Lol I know if we got to pick our countries ourselves Nigeria may be half empty). Secondly the fact that you’re alive is a blessing, you have a mouth to complain is something to be thankful for too. Seeing the good in every situation may be one of the hardest things to do especially as it concerns our country Nigeria. Let’s remember the past, how God delivered us from the deadly Ebola, people really showered with salt (desperate enough to do anything to save ourselves).

As a country we have never  experienced any major natural disaster. Nothing like hurricane Katrina, or Tsunami or earthquake or the kind floods that will wipe out a whole state. I was at the COZA17th anniversary program on Tuesday and Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo said that praising God in the midst of storm is the greatest show of faith . And this got me thinking. Imagine God looking down on us  with all the wahala we’re facing and he sees us giving thanks He’ll be moved to fight for us (and pick our call fast lol). Personally I believe Nigeria can be saved and things can get better for us but how we react or behave in hard times says a lot about our character and even our faith in God. Whether we like it or not we’re in the last days just as Jesus told his disciples ” Nation will fight against Nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Huge earthquakes will occur in various places . There will be famines. You’ll think at times that the very sky is falling”( Luke 21:10-11) message version.

When we see these things happening we shouldn’t be afraid or be anxious because these things have to happen. Just as Philippians 4:6 says ” Be anxious for nothing, but in everything  by prayer, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Many of us are very skilled in the art of putting up prayers, motivational hastags  and the likes on the social media but not actually getting down on our knees to pray or do anything about it. Somebody will just tweet or post on facebook”may God help us Ohh” and do nothing to show that you actually want Gods help. Even if that’s all you say when you pray and really mean it from  your heart God is bound to answer. You don’t have to be a prayer warrior to pray for your country.  See  what James 5:16b says ” The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”. Humble yourself and pray instead of complaining if you want to see changes.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land”  – 2nd chronicles 7:14.

I’m going to conclude by saying you should not be afraid because of  what may be happening to you personally or as a nigerian. Just believe Jesus’ got you.
God bless you all ❤
And happy new year to you all since this is my first post in 2016 🎉
